Since Nicole began wedding planning, her mother has been very active, providing help everywhere. When Nicole gently urged her to stand back, her mother did, but her enthusiasm never decreased.
Nicole’s mother said she was told to wear a complete wedding dress on the big day. Nicole was confused and indignant, determined to find out who had used her mother’s emotions and ruined this precious day.
Nicole wanted an easy wedding from the start. She merely wanted cupcakes at the reception, unlike other girls who dreamed about their fantasy weddings. Since her parents never married and her father departed before Nicole was born, she knew her mother’s deep, unfulfilled wedding preparation dreams.
Nicole’s mother enthusiastically chose flowers, cakes, and table settings for the wedding as if it were her own. Nicole gently begged her mother to step aside as she poured over the wedding notebook, thinking she was over-involved. Nicole felt guilty after her mother’s understanding but modest smile.
Her mother followed her requests, pulling back enough while still checking in with Anna, the wedding planner, to finish preparations.
Nicole eagerly arrived at the chapel on wedding morning. However, as she entered the bride’s dressing room, she saw her mother in a bridal gown, clutching shoes, smiling like a dream.
“Mom? You’re doing what? Shocked, Nicole stammered.
Her mother smiled as she spun in the garment. I got a call saying you wanted us at the wedding! I was shocked because you didn’t say anything, but it made me happy!”
Nicole inquired, “Who called you?” with a heavy heart. Her mother hesitated, sensing trouble. “Your wedding planner… I think,” she whispered uncertainly.
Nicole urgently called Anna for answers. Anna said it wasn’t her idea, but her employer, Miranda James, had asked for Nicole’s mother’s phone. Nicole blanched at Miranda James, knowing it was Peter’s ex.
Nicole stormed to Peter, explaining everything, leaving her mother in the dressing room. Peter was stunned and furious. They went straight to Miranda’s office to confront her. She was smug behind her desk.
Why you done this? Peter asks.
Miranda smiled and said, “I thought it’d be a fun surprise,” relishing their distress.
“This is low, even for you,” he said contemptuously. Miranda’s perverse satisfaction grew with each charge. Tired of the scenario, Nicole switched roles. She got out her phone and filmed a little video detailing Miranda’s interference and tagged all their wedding vendors.
Nicole’s phone buzzed with notifications as people condemned Miranda’s petty conduct online as they returned to the chapel. Miranda was being slandered online by the time Nicole was getting married.
Nicole saw her mother waiting at the church, tearful. I’m sorry, mom. Hugging her mother, she continued, “I know your excitement.”
Nicole’s mother stroked her hair with a grin. It’s okay, love. You would have told me it was a prank if it were true. Get you married.”
Nicole was joyfully walked down the aisle by her mother, and Peter hugged her at the altar. Anna handled everything in their absence, so the wedding went smoothly despite the controversy.
After Miranda’s misdeed, Nicole received many free wedding planner notes on their honeymoon to demonstrate their support. As Nicole and Peter rested on the beach, Peter laughed and said, “Well, looks like you’ve got the whole industry proving they’re better than Miranda.”
Nicole smiled and replied, “True, but I’m not planning on another wedding.” Her expression went soft. “But… My mother deserves her perfect wedding. She was prepared. I might take one of those offers and organize everything for her.”
Peter smiled less teasingly as he understood she was serious. “That’s a great idea.”
Nicole covertly planned with a new wedding planner to design everything her mother liked, from flowers and cake to her preferred wedding dress. Her in-law’s anniversary was the excuse to gather relatives and friends. She was emotional when her mother came, recognizing what was happening.
“This is for you,” Nicole remarked, helping her mother dress for the wedding. “All for you.”
Nicole’s mother were moved to tears. She finally had her dream wedding, which improved their relationship.
